Hi,

When would you use a rounded heal?

Stone setting?

Great idea but maybe you could tell us more on how you use it.

Your stone setting and engravings are very impressive.

Me, I don't use a round heel but I sse in another thread some person speak about it.
But some time you can use it to make brighting cut but I prefer round point to make it.

Thanks Roland
I have been thinking how to round the heel on my flat gravers as I dont have fixtures or power hones, and it turns out I dont need one and this method is so easy with the templates I already have.
Thanks for sharing this great tip, keep it up

Paul

Very clever Roland!

As you move the template closer and further from the stone the angled plate naturally rounds off the heel.

Rounded heels are used for some bright cut and also for some lettering. You don't round them very much - heck, you don't generally have much heel to round to begin with but it's supposed to help with some cuts.
