The Winners!
Hi folks!
The submission phase of the tutorial contest has ended. The submission threads were locked at midnight last night to prevent further edits or updates past the deadline. Now it is time to choose some winners. :whoo: We'd like to utilize a community-based judging process. To that end, I've created three separate polls for each of the three categories: Most Improved, Most Informative, and Most Outstanding submission. Each forum user is allowed to vote once for up to three different tutorials in each category. All votes are anonymous, and the poll results as they are received can be viewed by anyone who has already voted. On Friday, September 19th, polls will close and the authors of the threads with the most votes in each category will receive $700 towards a new Classic AirGraver, a Classic PalmControl, or a PalmControl upgrade! I would encourage everyone to review the contest rules, all of our fine submission threads, and the description and goals of each category before voting. Vote for the Most Improved contestant here, the Most Informative submission here, and the Most Outstanding project here. Good luck! Kaitlin |

Re: 1st Tutorial Contest Announcement ~ Winners
:whoo:
After some tight races, polls for the first tutorial contest are now closed! The winners are as follows: With 19 votes, Paul is the winner of the Most Improved Contestant category! These are his first, second, and third entries. With 28 votes, Katherine is the winner of the Most Informative Tutorial category! You can see her winning submission here. Also with 28 votes, Chris is the winner of the Most Outstanding Project category! His tutorial is here. Chris, Katherine, and Paul will each recieve $700 towards a new Classic AirGraver, Classic PalmControl, or Palmcontrol upgrade! Congrats, guys! A big thanks also to everyone who submitted a tutorial, commented in the discussion threads, took part in the polls, or in any other way helped to make the contest successful-- I hope you all have had as much as fun as I have. The locked submission threads will remain here, hopefully acting as an archive of information for the forum community. The contest was so successful, in fact, that we're starting up a new one! The Second Tutorial Contest sub-forum is right through here. The format is nearly identical and the deadline is December 11th, so go start some new projects! Kaitlin |

Congratulations! :whoo:
I have to disagree though - I think we are the winners getting to see all of those great tutorials. Thanks Steve! Your generosity continues to pay off for all of us. |

Re: 1st Tutorial Contest Announcement~Winners
I'd just like to say that I'm honored. I was shooting for most informative and to get most outstanding was unexpected. I'm grateful to all those that challenged me with great questions, those that voted, those that urged me to finish and to Steve for his generosity. I'm one step closer to the holy grail of engraving!!
The bracelet sold within a day and a half after going into the display case in the store in Charleston. I gotta say that this blows me away ... starting this tutorial with an idea that I wasn't completely sure would work - let alone sell. Thank-you again everyone, Chris |

Re: 1st Tutorial Contest Announcement~Winners
Wow Thanks Everybody
Especially to Steve for his generosity, and his engraver for making my progress possible. I learnt a great deal from the feed back from members and by applying myself to achieve some goals in the projects I submitted, I also had a lot of fun. I had planed to do more before the knee injury, Now I see that a second contest is up count me in, bigger and better. Congrats to the other winners, and thanks for all the great tutorials Paul |
