New here
Hello.
I have learned I am an engraver and what I have been doing is graving for starters. I always thought I was engraving. I am using an electrostylus but want to get more advanced. I am glad I found this site and I will post more photos of what I have been doing now for a bit more than 3 years. I just wanted to do a quick intro. https://www.instagram.com/p/BZAF3lDhU9n/ Last edited by drtyTshrt; 02-26-2018 at 12:20 AM. Reason: Long story |

Re: New here
Maybe I did not learn what I thought I learned earlier.
I just found the glossary of engarving terms. |

I just found the glossary of engarving terms. I feel I am about to spend some money for some real tools. |

Re: New here
Hi drtyTshrt I like your forum name. My wife calls me that sometimes. !
Are you doing these with a rotary? It is pretty good if so with a rotary as I think it is much harder to make a clean long cut with the rotary tool and a single pointed graver. Once you figure out the graver cutting the groove it makes steads you from side to side from wiggle or shaking that happens with hand holding a rotary tool.

The steel cups and plexi mirror I did with an electric pulse engarver. Talk about wiggle and shake. I have done a glass with a rotary and diamond bit. I did not know how crude I was until I found this site. All by hand, no vise, in my lap with naked eyes until I got the visor magnifier. I have learned SO much in the past 24 hours thanks to this forum. I plan to purchase some of your tools (palm airgraver) and I am wondering about the vise. Do they have a built in turn table or is that a separate item? |
