Re: Carved 6Al4V titanium "Causa Mortis"
Yes we do enjoy!
I'm curious, how detailed is your initial design / layout work? Do you just do a rough sketch to hold the vision or get right down into the fiddly bits? I like the way you worked the blade into a wing (when closed) and extended the work to also look good on its own when open. |

Looks great. What kind of tools to you use for this type of work? especially for getting the final project so smooth.

Re: Carved 6Al4V titanium "Causa Mortis"
Douglas, thanks for the comments!
Steve, I use to print the sketck and to glue at the piece, see that post from another knife I made: http://www.engravingforum.com/showthread.php?t=3714 David, I use all the tools I have on hands, most of the work is done with carbide bit, and I use too all others that I have on hands, for finish I use orange peel, bead blasted, scotch brite and 400 grit sand paper to make the patina. See the pic bellow: Thanks Peter and KDavid, it is a pleasure to me share my work with you guys!

Re: Carved 6Al4V titanium "Causa Mortis"
As Dave said it does look like a lot of work. I can hear the sounds of the grinding and the chips are a flying. Rudy does the orange peel cause the metal to darken? Just trying to figure out what thats for? Doug

Re: Carved 6Al4V titanium "Causa Mortis"
Dave,
I'm not counting more the time, but I think it leaves circa from 50/60 work hours! Doug, I ever hearing the sounds of grinding too, especially when I'm sleeping!! The orange peel is obtneid with a steel weel, see the pic: And for the colors is used the anodizing, see that link bellow, and after I remove part of it to make the patina aspect with sand papers and scotch brite. http://mrtitanium.com/interference.html Regards
