Default first crack at carving.

g'day all.

I tried my hand at some carving for the first time. I studied some photos for awhile and tried to take on board some mental notes.

I thoroughly enjoyed it but i defiantly have a lot more to do before they become somewhat acceptable.

I removed the background with tool quickly and then run over it with a rotary burr... all the carving was done with the Lindsay detailing point on a PC.

And well i don't have a scraping tool yet so i cheated and bead blasted the job once finished, which actually work exceptionally well in removing tool marks and giving a nice smooth matted finish - and took no more than 10 seconds.

please feel free to criticize and point out some errors.

real size...

Default Re: first crack at carving.

How long did it take just using just the Detailing point? I recently purchased the chisel/sculpting and scraper templates to try. It is definitely harder and more time-consuming than you would think.
