Default Taylor Hobson pantograph errors

Hello All,

I picked up a lovely 1956 Taylor Hobson pantograph engraver the other day. I think I've worked it out to be a C model. Generally in very good condition, with only very minor surface rust that has mostly disappeared with fine wire wool and oil. I decided to strip the arms and spindle off in order to clean them properly, but since reassembling it all, the engraving is coming out slanted. Prior to this it was engraving fine.

Any suggestions would be most welcome. Is it likely to be the combination of both arms sliders?

Also, it came with over 30 cutters, the one fitted at the moment cuts a fairly wide line, how do I tell which to swap to in order to get a thinner cut? Visually I am finding it hard to see differences.

Many thanks in advance

Hi, I know a bit about pantographs, old school mold and patternmaking training.
Post some pics and we can probably figure it out.
Sliding the arms to the same ratio setting on both arms should make it come out straight, if they are different settings it will slant the letters.
