Nice work David! It's great to see another Knife aficionado on the forum (though I just got started at both making and engraving).

I really like the dagger! You're a man of many talents; I noticed some scrimshaw on the knifes on your website along with the many nice wrought iron pieces.

I was wondering if you did the sailboat inlay before or after tempering? Afterwards seems like it would have been really difficult, but I also noticed that you got interested in knives from watching a Japanese smith forging a blade. I was thinking perhaps for that blade you used a hard core steel, jacketed with a steel that remains a little softer after tempering like some of the traditional Japanese smiths do?
